Say hello to the new kid in town - Boyish Jeans.

Dropping this season, we have some amazing new denim from Boyish.  At the forefront of sustainable denim, this brand has grown rapidly since their launch in 2018. Founded by Jordan Nodarse of California, Boyish jeans are designed in Los Angeles and their collections bring a fresh take on vintage classic silhouettes made popular by American brands. The name Boyish comes from the inspiration behind the brand; women who lean towards a more androgynous style. Nodarse designs jeans using men's fabrics and fits but tailors them to suit women’s body shapes. Thus 'Boyish'.

With sustainability as their main focus, they excel when it comes to production, using methods that consume less water and chemicals than most others. To make one regular pair would require 7000 litres of water, however Boyish's  manufacturing process saves billions of litres by using just 2/3 of that amount to produce their jeans, this also reduces their overall energy consumption. As well as this they reuse all water involved in production, so they don't release any polluted water into the environment.

For their non-denim products they use Tencel; made from wood pulp it is one of the most environmentally friendly fibres to exist, and a favourite of ours at ALC for its soft hand-feel qualities.

Boyish want to have the lowest carbon footprint possible so as well as producing their jeans sustainably they also used recycled materials for everything else they output. Therefore all swing tags, labels, and delivery packaging are made from recycled plastic and cardboard. They really want every aspect to be cruelty free. It is so refreshing to see a brand starting out with these intentions and it makes purchasing and wearing their pieces feel that little bit more special!

"Our mission is to make good jeans while leaving as little impact on the earth as possible. We are committed to using ethical and sustainable practices in the development and manufacturing of all our products. Our jeans are produced with sustainable fibers and washes through an environmentally-friendly and cruelty-free process." - Jordan Nodarse

Another fab thing we learnt from the brand is that they are part of the One Tree Planted movement! Their partnership with this movement means that one tree is planted for every purchase that is made, how cool is that?! So if you purchase a pair of Boyish jeans you’re giving something extra back to the planet too. The brand globally certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 meaning they are fully recognised as a sustainable brand.

It's always super exciting when we get a new brand in store but we're particularly ecstatic about Boyish as we are so inspired by everything they stand for as a brand.
